Abstract:
Two-dimensional materialsand hetero-structures provide an important playground for realizing novel topological quantum phasesas well astailored electronic and spin textures with potential applications. In this talk, I will first presentourrecent works on the experimental realization of Lorentz violating type-II Weyl fermions in MoTe2 [1,2]and type-II Dirac fermions in PtTe2 [3]. I will also present our recent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopic study ofgraphene/h-BN hetero-structure, which shows gaps induced by inversion symmetry breaking and second generation Dirac cones[4].
