Abstract:
Unveiling the role of bosonic excitations to electron pairing is the key to understand the unconventional superconductivity. In high-Tc cuprates, the charge carriers are coupled with various forms of bosonic excitations with either phononic or electronic origin. So far, distinguishing the most relevant bosonic excitations and their detection, quantitative characterization and relationship with high-Tc superconductivity remain open problems. Here, for the first time, we use the ultrafast optical spectroscopy to disentangle the electronic and phononic glue in the electron-doped cuprate La0.9Ce0.1Cu2O4±d. Our studies provide insight into the physics underpinning intimate relation between bosonic excitations of electronic origin and electron pairing in electron-doped cuprates and other related materials.
